An advocate, prevention strategist, speaker, writer, and on-air personality, Wanda Swan is a nationally-recognized thought leader in survivor advocacy, anti-oppression work, restorative justice and violence prevention.
She has been deeply embedded in the anti-violence movement as a professional practitioner for over a decade and her work has spanned across higher education, local and state agencies and non-profits. As both a curator and co-conspirator of systems and research that informs her field of practice, Wanda currently holds co-leadership roles in professionals organizations like Campus Advocacy and Prevention Professionals Association (CAPPA) and The Sexual and Relationship Violence Prevention Education and Response Knowledge Community (NASPA). Wanda is also a technical assistance provider and consultant to several state coalitions and national organizations. Within this capacity she has trained advocates on the benefits of adopting an anti-oppressive trauma-informed advocacy framework to better support historically-marginalized survivors of violence.
Wanda currently serves as director of The Office of Respect at Emory University and includes the supervision of a full-time staff of three on-call advocacy/prevention professionals as well as the organization of the nationally-awarded annual RespectCon conference as large responsibilities within her portfolio.
