ABOUT Kate
Kate (she/her) got her start in the sexual violence movement during college as an activist and peer educator. She has been working professionally in sexual violence prevention and advocacy since 2011, when she served as a community educator and on-call hospital advocate at a community-based DVSA nonprofit in Houston, TX. In 2014 Kate moved into campus-specific work first in Texas, then in Ohio, and now in Oregon. Kate currently works as a Civil Rights and Title IX Specialist at the Oregon Department of Education where she provides training and technical assistance to support students, families, and schools in Oregon’s K-12 public schools. Outside of work, Kate continues to support the work of campus-based preventionists in Oregon and enjoys spending time with her chosen family, hiking, and drinking lots of coffee. She earned a BA in Women and Gender Studies from Rice University in 2009 and a MA in Higher Education and Student Affairs from The Ohio State University in 2018, where her research focused on campus sexual violence prevention programs, peer educators, and social norms change strategies.
